Meeting your Twin Flame while Married

Well… what if you meet your twin flame and one or even both of you are already married to other people?

In my mentoring, many  twin flames I’ve talked to only meet (or reunite) when they’re nearly forty years old — or older. In four decades, one can become very set in their ways. One can build a whole life and family of their own in that time. A marriage can grow and then fall apart in that time. I think this is why the universe often sends us a twin flame awakening at this mid-life point. It’s supposed to shake things up and make you re-think everything you know.

Many of us are married by the time we’re forty. And for those of us who have met a twin flame, we realize that our lives until now may not have been lived authentically.

I have coached many people on their twin flame experiences and what I have learned is that twin flames never appear at a convenient time. You can’t find them when you’re searching for them, I know that for sure. It’s hard to come into union with them for various life reasons. In your soul, you know you’re supposed to be with this person, but there is always some hurdle preventing it. One of those hurdles is often marriage.

If you’re married and you are pining over your twin flame — feeling totally guilty at the same time — you’re not alone.

Relationships teach us soul lessons. Major relationships in our lives like marriages will always give us valuable teachings about ourselves. So, when we meet our twin flame, we are primed to know that something big has hit us. We have learned a lot about how we relate to others by then. We may think we know what love is until that point, but in fact, we have no idea. The twin flame experience teaches us about unconditional love and love of the self.

I think this is why the universe arranges it so that you meet your twin flame after a long, serious relationship. Having kids and assets jointly also adds an extra layer of challenges and tension which are so common in a twin flame journey. There’s always got to be some kind of barrier that keeps you apart when you know in your heart that you’re meant to be together.

So, don’t feel bad if you’re married when you start obsessing about your twin flame. It’s normal, though painful. I just want you to know that you’re not alone in this. Life isn’t always fair or straightforward. There are no guarantees. There are unexpected twists and turns and they’re not always convenient at all.

But this twin flame stuff is beautiful as much as it is painful. You have to be able to see that!
