Affirmations: Your Secret Weapon Against Holiday Stress

The holiday season, while filled with joy and cheer, can often be a source of stress and anxiety. From the pressure of gift-giving to the demands of family gatherings, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed.

But there is an easy tool to add to your “coping toolbox”, and assist you in navigating this hectic time: Affirmations!

Affirmations are positive statements – commonly beginning with “I am…” – that can reprogram your mind and shift your perspective. By repeating these statements regularly, either out loud or in your mind, you can boost your mood, reduce your stress levels, and begin the journey towards positive mindset. When used consistently, affirmations can help you stay calm, focused, and grateful, even during the most chaotic times. I swear by them!

Here are five of my favorite positive affirmations to help you navigate the holiday season with grace and ease:

1. “I am calm.. I am peaceful.”

2. “I am grateful for all that I have.” (Note: Focusing on gratitude is a wonderful way to shift your perspective and focus more on the present.)

3. “I handle stress with ease and grace.”

4. “It is ok to take time for me. My self-care allows me to be there for those I love.” (Note: We often neglect our own wellbeing during the holidays and think of it as noble, giving and loving. It is the opposite. This leave us resentful, tired, snappy, and bitter. No one wants to be around this person! When we are good, we can be there in a positive way for others and actually enjoy the season.)

5. “I am enough, just as I am.”

By incorporating these affirmations into your daily routine, you can transform your holiday experience from stressful to serene.

The power of affirmations lies in consistent practice. So, take a few moments each day to repeat these affirmations and watch as they work their magic.
